i got injured in my ex landlords house due to her negligence to make repairs to a cieling.
I got all the paper work for him he never had to get anything, I’ve never even met him. He hasnt really done anything, ive done most of the work., I got my own doctor even.

In most states the amount of compensation is federally regulated. For most worker’s compensation settlements the most an attorney can charge is 12%. For personal injury lawsuits, where your attorney is able to draw a third party into the lawsuit, the most they can be compensated is usually 33 1/3 %.

Depends on your contract. I’ve seen cases where they took 50% and cases where they took 10%. It all depends on the amount of risk involved and the amount of time and effort. Generally, they can take as much as you agree to. However, the bar association or court will slap their fee down if they feel the lawyer has taken a disproportionate sum. Maybe NY has an exact % figure for that, but I don’t know of any state that does.
